FamilySource Center
In partnership with the City of LA’s Community Investment For Families Department, Bresee’s FamilySource Center is committed to serving the community of Central Los Angeles. Bresee’s Hollywood FamilySource Center (FSC) reaches 2,600 community members each year, serving low-income families to become self-sufficient by increasing family aggregate income and academic achievement for youth. Bresee’s FSC provides the following:
Homelessness Prevention Program
Assisting families living in the City of Los Angeles who are at imminent risk of homelessness (delinquent rent); or at risk of homelessness (facing a financial hardship that could result in homelessness).
Financial Asset Building
Provide one-on-one financial coaching services in-person and remotely to accommodate customer needs. Financial empowerment and asset building programs in savings, debt reduction, credit building, banking and free tax preparation.
Free Tax Prep
Bresee partners with LAVITA to provide financial coaching, free tax preparation, and special savings accounts called Individual Development Accounts that match the deposits of low-income savers.
English as a Second Language (ESL) & Computer Literacy Instruction
Bresee partners with Los Angeles City College to provide ESL and computer literacy instruction to help adults achieve greater integration into the community and improve employability. Students enrolled in these courses have access to free, on-site childwatch to facilitate participation.
Immigration Services
Bresee partners with the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) to provide free legal assistance for those who are navigating the immigration system. Services include green card applications, renewals for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), citizenship application, u-visa status, and applications for legal work status.
Transportation Assistance
In partnership with International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA), clients may qualify for the Low-Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) subsidies including 4-regional ride trip tickets, $11 Taxi Coupons, and monthly bus pass discount. The LIFE Program was designed to assist Los Angeles County Low-Income riders with the cost of public transportation.
Food Program
Bi-weekly on-site food distribution, providing bags of fresh produce and dry goods to address food insecurity in partnership with The Sam Simon Foundation.
Supportive Services
Upon assessment, we provide case management services and link families to additional resources, including public benefits and low-income discount programs. Through our partnership with LAUSD, the PSA Counselor can also connect families to Baby 2 Baby and Operation School Bell.
